Title: Wo-wo MF cloths & Drying Towel
Post by: mcmaddy on 18 March 2015, 18:21
Just taken delivery of a new drying towel and MF cloths song with the foam lance. I'm wondering seeing as though they are red am I better washing them before use to minimise red/pink run on my white gtd while using.

Hi

I've never had any colour transference onto a car but we do advise caution as they red cloths are not colour fast. My wife's Bug is pure white and I've had no issues.

I would certainly wash them separately for the first couple of washes though.

Hope this helps?

So when it comes to cleaning the mitt and towel, it will obviously need to be washed after each use. I'm guessing just a 30 degree cool wash is best?

No, not if you want your mitt to last as long as possible.  That wash will be fine for the towel or micro fibre cloths but definately wash them separtely as they do run.

To prolong the life of your lambswool mitt you need to hand wash and rinse it, then gently squeeze out excess water, reshape it and hang it up in the mesh drying bag, somewhere warm-ish (don't put it on a radiator) and let it air dry naturally.  Give it a brush out before next use.  I've previously washed lambswool mitts in the machine on 30°c cycle or a hand wash cycle and it has considerably shortened the lifespan of the mitt.

It's sounds like a lot of effort but really takes only 5 mins to wash/rinse out then hang it up and it'll be dry for next time

Hi Snooze

As Bec says, do not machine wash your wool wash mitt. The risk is that you'll shrink it too and then it'll be good for nothing.

Open hose rinse, ring out and then hang up. Even this time of the year it'll dry quick.

Cheers

I find that after rinsing out the mitt, putting it back on my hand and giving it a good shake helps the drying process no end. Just make sure you have a good hold of it so that it doesn't go flying.

That's true, I sometimes shake it out when it's just damp and this really fluffs the pile up.

Interesting, but what do you do with your wash mitt?

That's a different story altogether!

Just used my new drying towel and am a bit disappointed that it's left a load of red gunk all over my pure white car. Was expecting some fluff as with all new drying items but this was red gunk. Going to wash the towel and see how it is the next time but initial impressions are not good. Also used the foam gun and while it seems ok for a quick washing regime you'll use a hell of a lot of foam concentrate. Could be just first use gremlins on my part mind.

Mcmaddy, I've learned from experience that is advisable to put a brand new towel through the washing machine first before using it, as it gets rid of much of the fluff and lint, that otherwise ends up on your nice clean car as you've just found out

I only know this because I used to get white/yellow/purple, (whatever colour the towel was) fluff and bits all over my car if I used the towel straight out of the packet.  In my case it was yellow bits all over a black car.

Give it a good wash and I'm sure it will get rid of any loose fabric for next time.

Mcmaddy, this is the first time we've heard of this so I'd be interested to hear if you do have an issue after you've washed it please? Sorry that you've not had a good initial impression and if the problem persists then drop me an email and I'll gladly swap it for you and discuss it with our manufacturer. The snow foam lances take a little getting used to in terms of the flow rate setting, give it a go on each setting and you'll soon find which one your happy with.

Thanks

Neil
