Been using a polo for the last few days whilst mine gets fixed again.... And I noticed you can pair 2 phones at the same time. I have a personal phone and a work phone so the feature was extremely useful.
I asked the dealer if the GTI can do it and apparently it can?
I have the standard system and seem to only be able to pair one phone at a time? Am I missing something?
-
Dont think it can I have adv phone prep and only one phone can be active but you can pair as many as you want but need to select which device is active in the infotainment screen if there are more than 1 in range.
-
You can have many phones paired but only one active for calls... there is a screen on the media system somewhere that allows you to select which one. Also, the same is true for streaming from a bluetooth device. I believe, but I've not tried it and could be wrong, that you could have one phone connected by bluetooth for phone stuff and a different one for streaming music...
-
With the polo it literally had both connected together and if either rang it would go through the car. Can't believe you can do things with a polo you can't do with a golf....

I use two phones... work and personal.
Only one can be active (never seen a car bluetooth that allows more than one tbh)
To toggle, select the phone mode for the display, hit the setup button bottom right, click "select device" (I think its called), choose your other phone.
As for why is the Polo getting better gear? That will be because it was refreshed after the Golf Mk7... they have car net and mirror link and all sorts. But it is still a Polo ;-)

Yeah it's annoying lol. I have to constantly switch between phones and that made it so simple!
-
Its a bugger when you have one setup and the other one rings while you are driving... by the time you've swapped it over, its gone to voicemail even if you are quick.
-
My Parrot Asteroid can handle two phones with incoming calls, but you can only dial out on the 'active' phone- not sure why OEM tech hasn't caught up with this yet
-
Because OEM tech is always miles behind - 2 years to develop and get approved and then standard install for another 5.
Your kit can be easily 5-10 years old in your "brand new" car.
None of this stuff is rocket science, its just to do with design, approval and model life time issues.
VW don't seem to be keen on varying it mid-life even (mind you, neither are the other manufacturers I've had over the years).
