The knob for a/c marked auto- Econ. How does this operate? Manual provided no explanation.
-
Auto will decide what speed and where to give the air based on the temperature you set. Econ turns the aircon compresser off thus saving fuel, alittle but i would recommend leaving it on auto at all times. If you leave it months before using auto chances are that you will have a build up of bactteria in the aircon.

I made that mistake! It stinks like rancid vinegar!

Many thanks for your reply,my manual gives no info on this Climatic Control, understand you to advise to leave it on Auto at a set temp. Thanks again. Illustration in manual shows differing dash.Am also considering taking service contract with Vw not sure as to their value. Quoting £25 per month to cover MOT,Service, brake fluid change, servicing parts and labour. Car(56 plate) 13,000 miles, fvwsh. Any experience of these contracts? Trust you and your motor going well!

If you want peace of mind and to retain the strongest re-sale value then it's worth keeping the VW history up.
Personally myself, I do my own as I don't trust VW to do the job well enough on my modified example. But then again, a modified car isn't going to attract the same crowd as a stock car with a good history!
