hi,
i bought my Mk4 1.8 gti in June this year. The car is great condition, apart from the suspension. the problem i get, is that my car is too noisy, it squeaks and i also get loud knocking sounds from the susp. Need some urgent advice, how the hell do i get a smooth ride with these RS4s, at high speeds the car is sweet, at low speeds and when doing three pointers, the car is far from it :undecided:. Please, anyone with some advice.
Cheers

what suspension do you have on it standard? lowered springs ? coilovers ?

standard suspension.

sounds like you have the same probs as mine, but mine feels dangerous at high speeds now.
Knocking from the rear is your rear beam bushes, mine are shot, and your looking at £200+ to get them replaced.. also anti roll bars, think mine need replacing too.

£200!!!!
local independant vw specialist round here charge £140 all in!! and having the soggy old oil filled bushes replaced for vw solid rubber upgrades is well worth it!!
anti roll bar bushes wear and cause knocking on the front, these are £80 all in fitted too which is mucho cheapness!!!
mine feels dman nice since i had the above done in march, then having the same chaps fit me uprated antiroll bar and coil overs its even better

thats what i keep seeing people say it'll cost them.. but i think most mite be a stealer quote, i was gonna ring up the specialist that did my water pump for me as they were cheap but were very good.

well on uk mk4 site the prices have ranged from £200-£340 to have these rear bushes changed, as you have to drop the whole back end assembley!!!
just a thought to any one that may need these doing, give these chaps a ring, www.louthvw.co.uk tell em Gaz (kniterider) off here put u onto em, for the amount alot of peeps are quoted on this job, it may be worth spending a bit of money on fuel!! cause u get a free loan car with that too!!
