Hi guys,
I'm ordering a GTi tomorrow and I have a couple questions.
1) does the media iphone in connection charge your phone?
2) is there a red light in the strip along the door just below the window? (Does light up)
Thanks in advance!

The carbon fibre effect strip below the window on the front doors does have a red light strip in it. Also the metal door sills have red light strips in them as well. However the back door carbon fibre effect panels do not have red light strips.
I cannot confirm the iphone connection question as do not have an iphone, maybe one of the other participants on this forum can help with this one.
Enjoy the new car, I know you will love it. I have a GTI PP and have to say it is the best car I have owned to date.

Thanks for the reply brenbo! I'm going for a DSG. Are you manual or DSG?

To expand a bit, the green collar cable plays and charges my iPhone 6 plus fine.

Excuse my ignorance but what's a green collared cable? Will the car have one (ive ordered mine with the tech pack) or do I need to upgrade the cable ???

with the tech pack there are the two media cables you will recieve, you should be able to make out the green collar on the lower one. . this is the one refered to by zayvin..

Oddly with the tech pack you lose the USB input socket which i believe is in the glovebox on cars without tech.
luckily i spotted this during handover of the car so the sales guy got me a usb to media in cable out of some audi! .if this matters to you bring it up with your garage and im sure they will supply one. pn in picture.

Great stuff Bri thanks.

Advanced Tele Prep has two USB ports rather than MDI port, one next to the gear lever and one in the arm rest.
-
To add to the confusion does the MDI not get dropped for a simple USB if you have the Nav Pro?
-
No idea I have both Adv Tele and Nav Pro
-
My car with Nav Pro has no MDI although it came with a MDI lead lightning lead.
It just has a single USB slot under the flip down lid.
-
I have NavPro.
Not complicated coloured leads, just a USB socket behind the "ash tray flap" (I am soooo old!) behind the gear stick. Socket will accept pretty much any USB storage device (phone, I-thing, memory stick etc).
I have an Ipod classic in there, its a hangover from when my inferior car didn't have two SD Card slots in the glovebox. I could get rid of it, but can't be arsed :)
For phone charging I use a mini ciggy lighter to USB thing (think its a Belkin one), again its another hangover from my pre-golf days.
I'd not want to stuff my phone into the "ash tray flap", too fiddly. I just leave it on the passenger seat.
Cheers
Fred
