Anyone else's car suffer from the above? My four week old car has numerous creaks, rattles, ticks and splintering sounds from the interior trim first thing in the morning. When I'm driving home and things have warmed up its like a different car.
I'd love to know if it's just me. Things are so bad I'm considering swapping it under the 30 day exchange plan.
Cheers,
GB.

I have my fair share of rattles but as the weather is getting better I am using anti rattle tape.
As your car is so new take it back to the dealers and show them the issues. Give them a chance to correct it and if not then you can take about replacement.

Unfortunately it's already been back twice. Both rear shocks changed, actuator problem fixed, fuel flap sorted, rear light adjusted due to poor alignment, rear view mirror housing reinstalled, rear armrest and load hatch removed / refitted, plus centre console removed and refitted - which seems to have made things worse.
My local dealer has been great (they didn't supply the car) but I've not had a great few weeks with the vehicle. This is therefore my one and only chance to change it. I'm hoping to drive the potential replacement later on in the week, see how it compares, and then decide what to do.
In many ways I don't want to change the car but I'm just worried I've got a lemon and a new problem is never going to be far away.

Took delivery of my 5dr Carbon Grey Manual GTD in December and it also rattles like an old nail on cold mornings. Reminds me of the Golf adverts when it does. Parcel shelf seems to be the biggest source.
And the stereo is so poor It spends most of the time on voice, current affairs stations and not music so that doesn't mask the rattles.

You both must have Friday afternoon cars!

In many ways that's the kind of comment I want as it suggests there's hope if I do go for the exchange.

I can't say that my GTD is very rattly, even in the cold. The soundaktuator vibrates quite loudly at about 1500rpm but that is only a minor annoyance.

I read somewhere on some other forum (what I get bored at work!) that the creaking noise we here, like going off a kerb and what not is caused by the seals rubbing around the doors and a quick lining of lube soon sorts it out. I'll see if i can find it again, cos my doors used to creak like an old galleon before, if thats one of your problems

Interesting read. Anyway, I've decided to go and test drive the possible alternative on Friday. At the moment I'm leaning toward an exchange as I don't have a lot of confidence in my current car. The alternative is a slightly different spec but one I'm quite happy with. I also now know exactly what I'm looking out for on the new car. As the opportunity to change is there it feels like one I should probably take as long as the alternative is up to scratch.

The glovebox lid on my Gti vibrates when the car is cold
Applying pressure to the lid with my hand stops it but that clearly is not practical.
It also disappears when the interior has warmed

Well, test drove the alternative vehicle today and have decided to do the swap.
Moving from a three door white GTI with Pan Roof, leather, winter pack and Dynaudio, to a silver three door with leather, winter pack, and the Performance Pack. I've seen very few three doors in silver but actually thought it looked really smart. I also thought the extra performance of the PP was quite noticeable (could all be in my head though). Standard stereo seemed perfectly good and while I think the sunroof looks nice I'd never have actually opened it! It's also one less thing to go wrong / rattle.
Pick up the new car with twenty miles on the clock on Tuesday. Hand back the car with a thousand miles on it.
Fingers crossed that this one's a bit better built than the current one as I really do like the car.
