Hi everyone I'm new here and have bought a project mk3 2.0 8v cab which is a non start.
She has only 100k on theclock, one owner from new and full be service history. Bodywork and interior is in mint condition. Not bad for £90
It's getting fuel but no spark.
The last owner put it to a garage and they have diagnosed it as a faulty ecu.
I trust the garages diagnosis so I just bought an ecu, chip and imob box off ebay for £40 which should be here in the next couple of days and I will see if that cures the problem. I don't think its the coil but have you ever heard of this:
When I turn the ignition on the motor in the throttle body keeps constantly adjusting making a noise but this is weird bit. The ignition coil makes this loud high pitched beep noise every few seconds, I know it's definately the coil as if I unplug it the noise stops. Also the relay 167 is clicking like mad
If I try and start I get no spark but even without cranking I sometimes get a random spark at the king lead, I found this out because I had the little badger in my hand! The garage also said that the injectors were firing at max capacity when cranking.
Have you ever seen these symptoms before?
Cheers Steve

Ok stuck the new ecu, imob and chip in and still got the same issues.
Here's a video of what I'm describing

get a new coil, its a mk3 so always handy to have a new one even if it is the ecu.
