As the subject says..anyone had any experience? Or advice?
-
all depends on what car and what was it used for
soooooooooo many variables from just an old plod car !
-

This.
For e.g let's say it's an ex traffic Evo. I probably would. Hard to keep up with the strict servicing and maintenance, but the police will mange. A runnabout Astra Derv? No. It's been driven round town endlessly and the price saving will be minimal.

my sis has a golf mk4 1.8t (180) thats ex police , high miler but has been excellent.
-
It's a bmw 330D se 58 reg
-
In that case you " should " be ok
the hi end cars tend to be shown a BIT of respect from the drivers, at the end of the day they are the ones driven as speed.
its the panda cars that are demolition derby specials with anyone jumping in and not giving a sh1te about them
YEs it would have been driven hard, but hey dont we all
-
I suppose I will know more once I've seen the service/maintainance history.
-
I nearly went to look at some ex police 330d's in Manchester, but realised insurance on the 330d was obscene.
-
I did a quick check and it only worked out about 30 quid more than my mk3 8v!
-
Budget for bits of dash and trim as they often have holes in for radio gear and the like.
As said Panda cars are generally wrecks pursuit cars better looked after and often up spec or tuned
-
Looks like they have some small holes in the silver bits and the top dash vent cover, fairly cheap to replace by the looks of it.
-
I have had a few ex police Volvo's in the past with no issues, but it depends on how much you are saving as they can be hard to resell.
-
By the time I've done 50k I think it may be hard to sell on. The only issue would be the higher millage it has already done. I've seen much higher when searching though. (Worst was an 08 plate 320D touring with about 190,000 miles on it for nearly 5.5k)
