Title: Footwell trim rattle - fixed!
Post by: Mr_Orange on 04 March 2015, 21:51
Have owned car for near 6 years. On off its had a light buzz rattle coming from driver's footwell..... :-\
More than once in the past I've stripped all the dash trim out, I thought it might have been improvised wiring for gauge or vents, I thought it was lots of things, that is until last night!
Took a good look at it again (in that upside down head in the footwell pose) and realised the large flat piece that slots in was rattling off the right foot rest!
Anyone else got the noise, maybe check this ;)

I re-read this, makes me sound like a proper spanner.  I spent so much time and effort on this its untrue.  Started with tightening screws up, later on I modified the covers to beef up fixing points, reviewed wiring and changed route for boost gauge and vent power, attached small weight to flat cover as I thought it was resonating.  List goes on....

I remeber taking apart and putting back my interior so often that invariably I'd end up with screws left over which weirdly ended up curing most of the rattles I had
