I have an RNS315 head unit and finally fitted the Bluetooth module today and went to somebody to get it coded with Vagcom. Got it paired to my iphone and synced the phone book and displayed on the dash and I can make calls using the MFSW but I cant answer calls!
At first the phone button on the steering wheel wasnt working but some coding was done and it now works but I cant answer incoming calls! I can make outgoing calls (through contacts or last dialled numbers etc) but if someone rings me I cant answer it!
Anybody have any help please?
I also had a few other things done, alarm chirp, cornering lights, footwell lights on etc and if anyone else can think of some good things let me know!

The RNS315 has Bluetooth built in. Are you saying you have fitted a separate module as well?
Regarding things to add using VCDS, the big digital speedo is a good one. Go into Instruments and select ROW (Rest Of World) This will change the MFD units into Kilometers and Litres, but you can change this back to Milles and Gallons in the MFD. Then go into MFD Data, tick Digital Speed and untick Alt Speed. The small KPH speedo will be replaced with the external temperature and the big speedo will be in the MFD data.
If you go abroad and need the KPH speedo, just re-tick Alt Speed and it will come back.

Thanks Dubber I will get that done next time

The bluetooth module I installed is 7P6 035 730J (SW:3200 HW: H15) not sure if this is anything to do with it?

Only certain models of the RNS315 have Bluetooth built in, apparently mone doesnt so I needed the module

Yep not all of them have it built in. Mine doesn't so I'm using a 9W7 Bluetooth module with it.
Here is the list if you want to double check for yours - http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/287901-amundsen-bluetooth/?p=3421360

What button are you pressing to answer, the ok one on the right?

Trying the Ok button and the phone button
-
Interesting... could it be an iPhone issue?
-
not sure, the module is supposed to be compatable with all phones. The bloke who did the coding for me has had an idea and we are going to try that tomorrow, if that doesnt work I will try another bluetooth module in my car and my module in another car
-
Tried another phone today (non-iphone) and it worked! So I did a software update on my iphone, reset the bluetooth module on my car and hooray! It works! I can now answer calls but the caller cant hear me
Must be a mic problem but I dont know what at the min :undecided:
-
I assume you have connected the mic? and placed it in the overhead console? Did you route the mic through the headset or bypass it straight to the Bluetooth module with the wiring. Usually there are some wiring plugs on the Bluetooth loom at the back of the radio. They may need tweaking.
-
Yep ran the mic to the overhead light, its part of the loom and goes into the quad lock into the back of the head unit
-
Some radios need the mic connecting to the radio, others it connects into the module.
The kit that I bought had the option of plugging it into either. It was a long time ago, so I can't remember which mine plugged into (was a RCD510, now a RNS510) but the first time I tried it it didn't work. Plugged it into the other socket and it did.

Its the A/B and C/D are inter changeable, I believe in this example the C connector leads straight to the Bluetooth module, D is the MIC.
So A will be mic in and B mic out from the RNS315.
So you can either connect C to D which is direct MIC to the Bluetooth.
OR
connect A to D and C to B which passes the mic through the head unit.
-
Mic is only connected to the RNS 315 if its got Bluetooth built in, otherwise connect to the Bluetooth module.

AJmoir36
Thanks for that! My loom is slightly different than that as it is just a fixed loom and doesn't have the changeable leads to the bluetooth module.
So I need to wire the mic to the bluetooth module like in your diagram but need to know which wire is which or which pin is which and sort some bullet crimps out
-
This might help if its the same as a RNS315, could you not push the MIC pins out of the radio connector and join them together
http://www.my-gti.com/2574/volkswagen-rns-310-pin-assignments (http://www.my-gti.com/2574/volkswagen-rns-310-pin-assignments)
Also I believe the pin outs are on a label on the top of the radio itself.
This might be correct.

AJmoir, could you tell me what harness that is, think I'll just order one from car systems
-
I think i just googled rns 315 blue tooth wiring. I suppose going to car systems and searching for vw wiring.
-
I think its this one?

-
Assuming your module is one of the listed ones it will work fine.
-
My new wiring harness turned up and Ive just had a quick look but something is wrong.
The mic I have already installed has a connector block in the overhead lights (see pic)
My new harness (white wire) will not fit into the microphone

The mic (black lead on left) will nt plug into the harness white wire
Can somebody assist please
-
Sorry I just googled vw blue tooth to rns 315 wiring images on Google for an example. Can you not disconnect the two that lead to the radio and connect them together.
-
There is a connector block that connects the 2 ends together, I thought only the microphone unplugged but the stereo side does as well so you have the adaptor block to connect the 2 ends
-
So is it working now?
-
All sorted and working at last
