I have recently bought a vw golf edition 35 and fancy doing a quick service, but how do you get in to change the air filter?

Are they hidden,  I think the filter is part of the engine cover.

I don't think so its on the right hand side as you open the bonnet

Off topic, but nice collection of cars in your sig snoopy  :cool:  Got any pics? Would especially like to see one of the mk1 mini.  Partly learnt to drive in an old mini and have great memories of it, a lot of fun.

If you haven't already done it I recommend greasing the posts and rubber grommets that the engine cover sits on. Those covers take a bit of force to remove, plastic is thin in places too.
