Title: Aliens not working
Post by: martinc1967 on 24 February 2015, 12:44
Hi Guys,

I know the aliens work on every five wash wipes etc. but mine have recently stopped working?
My washes are still working? Are they on a separate fuse or is it likely something else?

Regards,

Mart

Count yourself lucky they don't work, pesky things.  Do you use them much then?

See below, looks like headlight washer system does have it's own fuse #36, though exact location may vary depending on build date, options etc.

Or this but may need to look at it in reverse, as it's possibly for LHD

Thank you, I do actually. Although never really looked at the mess they make. I take it it's worse on black cars and you don't use yours?

Mart

Yes, they make a shocking mess on a black car, usually  jusr after it's been cleaned   May not bother some but as I'm a bit OCD about having a clean car, I find it annoying.   Plus they drain the screenwash reservoir quite quickly.

Now I'm reminded which fuse it is I think I'll pull it and then can forget about them.

Mine don't work. After some vcds searching I found the "have headlight washers" box unticked in 09 central elect. Was via long coding helper.

Think I'll leave it off.

It cracks me up when ppl ask if you really use them? You have no choice! As he correctly states every 5 pulls! I would prefer a seperate switch myself always come on on my clean car! ARGH!!!!!

Yes, they always know when you've just washed the car

No choice (unless you disable) but presumably there are some people out there that value them as a aid to cleaning.  Maybe people that don't clean their cars very often?

A seperate switch would be better than the current auto setup with the wiper stalk, but I can't think of any time I would choose to activate them, but then my lights get washed weekly/fortnightly along with rest of car so headlight washers are of no benefit.

On Audis, they activate when you continue to press the washer stalk for over a certain time. Prob a better system as at least then you'd have the choice to use them or not.

Was digging around adaptations in 09 Central Elect. In the drop down menu, one of them offer the option to change when they activate. Standard they are set to 5 pulls, but you can change it to more or less...

For those who want to keep it...
