Title: Removing the plasitc handbrake grip
Post by: Ryan S on 22 October 2003, 13:21
Hi all,

Just a quick question - What's the easiest way to remove the plastic grip on the handbrake in the mk 1?

I've got a nice leather gaitor to fit - and can't remove it at the moment...don't want to break anything, and it's not even mentioned in my Haynes!

Help!?!?!?

Also I've got a problem with my drivers seat - It rocks backwards and fwds slightly under heavy braking or acceleration.  It's not just the case of one corner being loose - the whole seat moves up and down slightly - any ideas how to get rid of this 'play'?

Thanks,

Ryan.
(Mk 1 'rocco)

I replaced mine with a nice shiny chrome effort - brute force was all it needed - go on, flex those muscles ;)

It didn't break it when I did it, the handle is still ok and able to go back on - should I want it to.

As for your seat, you'll probably find replacing the plastic runners on the seat base feet will fix that problem.

The Plastic Runner that fits onto the top of the front Seat mount could be missing, was on my passenger seat and that rocked about a bit.
