Mk6 engine with bigger turbo

I thought the ED35 had the older EA113 engine (from the mk5) coupled with the K04 turbo.  GTI has the EA888 engine and IHI turbo

The idea being the older engine was stronger and better able to handle the increased power on the ED35.

Correct, it has the CDL engine code also found in the Golf R.

As above the GTI edition 35 has the older engine design. The same engine type as the mk5 edition 30 not the ea888 engine type of the mk6 GTI.

Cam belt instead of cam chains on the regular Gti engine. I had an ed 30 before my ed 35, that was one of the main reasons I wanted a 35, slightly updated version of the ed 30's motor in the mk6 chassis with its improved fit and finish, nvh etc. so easy to tune too to S3, Golf R (both mk 6 and mk 7) levels of poke. Traction is the main issue....mate of mine has a 7R and whilst I am insanely jealous the boot is a total joke and he can't get away

as above, I went from 30 to 35 because of the engine, the revisions make it reel livelier than the 30.

Best car I have owned,Sadly due to an unfortunate happening the 35 will have to go, but if all goes well there will be another one purchased at some point, don't often say that about cars.
