Title: lock problem
Post by: supra_ash on 18 February 2015, 18:45
since i removed my battery to clean my starter motor i cant get my key to work in the lock.
i only have one key and the key fob has never worked so i have to use the key to open/lock the doors.
since putting the battery back on my key no longer works in the door.
when i turn it nothing happens this is both doors so unlikely it would be the barrel ect...

does anyone know what has happened ?

it would ideally need scanning to see if there are any fault codes but I'm guessing a fuse maybe

you can resync the keyfob to lock/unlock the doors from the buttons with VAG COM, it usually loses the link when the battery runs out

VAG COM will give you a specific fault code if there is one and will probably point you in a better direction than a generic code reader. Chris who??

If you are looking at the fuse board on the drivers side (the bit that sits against the door)
Try the third in from the left third down (it controls the central locking and overhead light)

hi mate, i have actually tried all of these.
one weird thing happens... wen i put the key in the driver side i turn it to the left to lock it and its stiff it wont turn.
when i put it in the passenger side it will turn both ways but wont do anything, no noise , no nothing.
i dont understand what is happening i thought the locks are normal locks you put the key in and turn but wont have none of it.
all since i removed the battery.
im really busy too lately so finding it hard to get the time to start messing but ive tried all fuses that it could be and nothing
