Ok so I bought my golf about four days ago (seller ignoring phone) (1999 mk4 1.8 t) got it home and went to bed. woke up in the night to my windows rolling down (all four) and the doors unlocking sometimes. After this happening about ten times I took the leads off the battery and went to bed.Next day I woke up and reconnected the battery and the car whould crank over strong but not start
Checked fuses next to drivers door all seem ok an same with ones on top of battery (maby more I don't no about ?
I can hear fuel pump priming
Had a (so called) mechanic come out and hook it up to a diagnostic machine and he said it whould not reed the car (£20.00) for nothing he suggested the E.C.U but didn't look or sound so sure
Left car with leads off over night and tried again with no luck
Battery has now gone flat after trying to start it that many times grrrrr
Any help whould be appreciated before I take it to a garage and get robbed
Or if anyone could suggest a garage in liverpool or even better a good mobile mechanic

Think you can still read codes from AGU abeit not all data - someone with a AGU may be able to expand on this.
by the sounds of it if you battery is dying wihtin 24 hours, I would get a new one and see how you get on from there. Not sparking, electrics playing up, no power the day after...
