Title: Wheel question
Post by: craigus on 11 February 2015, 22:16
Hi Had to aquire some new rims as my monza reps cracked really bad on potholes. I have bought some audi sport rims 17x7.5 et56 and was wondering if anybody  else has run et56 on the mk5 golf. Had it in for cambelt at a vw specialist in Dronfield and he says they aren't rubbing or catching. Just me maybe being a bit paranoid as the monzas were et45. Had a feel and there's about 10mm between wheel and suspension. Any help greatly appreciated to put my mind at ease

Full lock it and drive around in circles increasing your speed gradually until either they catch and rub or you get sick. Do it in both directions, putting as much load on while turning as possible putting as much pressure on each side to compress the suspension as much as possible.

No rubbing = winner.

Let us know how you get on.

yeah will give that a try, everything i have read on internet states they should be fine, they're just 11mm closer to the suspension. but still about 10mm clearance. plus car is on stock suspension anyway.. there is a slight humming sorta noise but think thats the cheap tyres on the front, budget specials lol
