Title: Newbie
Post by: A7 UFO on 16 September 2005, 14:42
Hi, I'm Simon and I'm from Basingstoke /applause/

Purchased my 91 J mk2 16v two or three years ago. It came with a 9a 2.0 16v 175bhp/150lbs, with electric recaros and Pioneer set up. Other than that, standard.

Since having it I have -
Sold the BBS RAs and went to Design 90s and then onto 15" Compomotive MOs
uprated the brakes to 305mm 4 pot Brembos
(http://img113.exs.cx/img113/2516/golfbrakes.jpg)
fitted a mk4 brake master cylinder
m3 rear lights
private number plate
S/s exhaust
(http://img113.exs.cx/img113/6127/golfback.jpg)
FK coilovers
ARBs and strut braces all round
G60 arches all round
sold the 2.0 16v engine and fitted a 1.9 PD TDi 150 engine and 6spd box

Forge custom fmic
Remap to 200bhp'ish and 285lbs
Peloquin ATB diff

Car is currently in having a complete respray along with a few subtle body mods.
Should be fresh on the scene for the 06 show season.
Watch out Simon Cooper, a new diesel will be on the scene!

Arrow,  very cool looking motor.

In regard to the peloquin diff, if you look in vw related there is a thread from g6dub in there if you could shed any light on her predicament that would be cool.

welcome :)

btw..  is that VW/BMW place 'Expert Teknik' in Basingstoke still in operation?  they seem to have disappeared off the face of the earth from what I can tell.

I've certainly never heard of them...

Okay..  Just mentioned them as I bought my car from them about this time 2 years ago.  Just wondered what had happened to em as they seemed to vanish.

I noticed something a year later that makes me pretty sure it was clocked.. They seemed decent lads though.. Basically they bought and sold VWs Audi's and BMWs and did servicing including supercharger stuff etc.

their details were as follows  (Site no longer works)

Expert Tecnik
Vickers Business Centre
Priestley Road
Basingstoke
Hampshire
RG24 9NP

Tel. 01256 333344
www.expert-tecnik.com

from what I remember it was out near a hospital. (i'm not local)

Darren,

Find out this guys name and then put it on every forum imaginable about how much of a rip off mechant he is. That way whenever he changes his business name, the reputation goes with him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can confirm this guy is a piss taker, I eventually received a dodgy piece of kit of this joker, and i know at least another two people off here have been scammed big time

g-man you'll have a PM in a minute.

Got the engine and box for an Ebay bargain of £800.  Bought an uncut loom for £100 from a scrappy in London.  Unfortunately, engine came without the transponder part of the key which took ages to get around.  You have to have a matching clock/key/ecu with a pd as you can't run standalone management to bypass the immoboliser like you can with the 20v.  VW were no help and would not recode a new key I provided, even though I could provide VAT proof of the engine purchase, V5 and passport ID.

If I had known it would have been this hard/long 14 months ago then I would have TB'd the 2.0 16v that was in there or just been boring and gone for a 20vt.

i found some information on expert technik apparently the premises that they were trading from was burgled and they were made bankrupt with over 10 cars being stolen - the burglars have been caught and are being dealt with by the police and none of the cars were returned - this resulted in them becoming bankrupt - this is why they closed down...
the thieves were located in sevenoaks Kent and had the cars stashed at different locations so to be fair to the guys their they haven't had an easy time of it...
