Just wondering how my car is doing in comparison with others. It's a July 2013 5 door GTD with 20k miles.
Claims to date
1. Dashboard out to fix vibrating air con pipe.
2. SD54 software upgrade
3. Passenger side rear door seals all replaced as footwell soaked
4. Engine yellow warning light came on today, followed by flashing glow plug light and then Auto stop error warning message. Quickly fixed by my dealer Walkingshaws who I can't fault.
5. Haven't done anything about the squeeky front struts or rattling rear dampers!
Wonder what will go wrong next? But having said that it's a fantastic car
-
1- replaced front GTI badge
2- replaced spoiler
3- replaced centre console lid
4- faulty DAB (current)
5- slipping clutch ( current)
6- broken engine cover
7- rattle from dashboard (current)
8- moisture in the headlight (current)
I'm sure there is more, but it's too depressing to think about it....
-
0.... no wait 1 and that was firmware upgrade on radio....
Just over a year and over 50k miles and I had nothing except bog standard service visits.
-
I might have the record for the most expensive warranty claim,
New dsg box
Catalytic converter
Radiator
Auxiliary belt
Dogleg engine mount
This was all done in one sitting when the engine mount snapped in half, totalling £8,000.

My Gti PP is in for the 3rd time since Dec 2014 for a water leak in the rear passenger footwell and the dealer just can't seem able to fix it.
Also had the sticking petrol flap now fixed by the dealer.
Roll on summer for the dry weather.
-
5- slipping clutch ( current)
Surprised this is a warranty issue, given:
Very true, mine is running 320bhp and 450NM with the map on 98RON.
Very generous of VW to offer a warranty of the clutch of a car modified in such a way...
-
It was slipping before it was mapped, and given most clutches last longer than 9months I would says its a defect, currently in talks with VW as to percentage I have to pay.

Sounds like the problem I had when the car steamed up when parked and one of my colleagues thought it looked a bit strange. I think they replaced all the door seals and that seemed to have cured it. Seems like it's a known problem as the dealer didn't raise an eyebrow and the parts were ordered in within the day. Smelt of glue for a day and no more water on the floor

Thanks for your reply.
Dealer rang today, had the car under a contant stream of water for 5 days and not a drop has entered.
I asked about the replacement of the door seals and they have advised it is definately not the door seals so haven't replaced them.
Next step is to return the car back to my driveway without the carpets and wait for it to rain to see if the puddle reappears.

To those with a/c vent rattles, do you know exactly what was causing it and how it was fixed? I have one that's driving me nuts. It's definitely not the soundaktor rattle, it's a more intermittent one from the driver side a/c vent or behind the instrument cluster and is most obvious when coasting on rough surfaces. I've had no luck with it in three visits to the dealer so far
-
Nothing for me yet in 10 months but I have an annoying rattle from the roof console that needs sorted.
-
That is the exactly what I have. Drives me freckling crazy!!!!! I'm on my 4ty visit and still nothing I'm afraid.

Mine vibrated at 2,000RPM and sounded like it was a soundaktor problem but it was an air con pipe rattling against the bulkhead and I was told the dash had to come out as it was the only way to get to the pipe. It definitely solved the problem and there is absolutely no evidence of the dash being out.
Oh forgot to add I also had the fuel flap problem, but the plastic shaving diy cure solved that

I will be passing this on to my dealer, its driving me nuts. My vibrates between 2000-2500 in every gear

That's exactly what mine did, if it's any help my dealer is Walkingshaw in Cumbria.

Only had to have the rear side spoilers replaced while it was in for it's first service as they were flapping in the breeze. Touch wood they are on rock solid now.
-
19k and no problems.
-
One, the side bits of the rear spoiler were replaced because the bottom 0.5" on each side were not properly stuck down... The dealership spotted it and fixed it... I didn't really see it as a problem...

Same! Going to run this by my dealer before my first service this week. Vibration at low revs has got quite bad in the last month or so.
I need the rear spoilers stuck down too, so same complaint there also.
The front brakes sound a bit grindy too, but hopefully nothing overly warn there yet (10,000 miles).
