Anyone done this on the MK7, i did it on my MK5 but just wondered if there is a guide for the MK7 ?
-
Can be done but the kit from Kufatec is pretty expensive (500£).
Then needs coding with VCDS.

Thanks but was thinking more the wiring/ routing

Wiring is usually down the right hand side of the car when looking at the car from behind (drivers side in other words)

Even on the MK7 ?, just thinking that it now connects up to the unit in the glovebox now and not the headunit..
-
You may need to look then but to be honest what's the difference between behind the head unit or in the glovebox, about three inches??

In cabling routing terms its a lot more than 3 inches but i get your point.

Afaik VW route down the driver's side if fitted in factory but dealers have been known to run down the passenger side when retrofitting (on the continent at least).
-
Im amazed that theres no guides for this, usually someone has done something by now, they have been out for a couple of years now.
-
It's strange but in the mk5 and mk6 heydays there was a raft of retrofitting and I bought my first mk6 pretty standard just because I knew I could retrofit just about everything at much less cost than vw were charging as options.
Since the mk7 launch its all gone quite quiet in general with modifications.
The whole feel for modifying seems different.
I've hardly touched mine in 15 months. That would have been unknown years ago, I'd have had the thing apart and fitted all sorts.
Maybe VW's anti tamper software in certain parts of the car (ECU, nav) is putting people off in general?

I guess component protection is a big part of it, and finding a willing dealer/specialist with the right VW-linked kit to have such items recoded

Thats exactly what I was thinking, the forums were full of people adding all sorts of things but nothing hardly on the mk7, i thought it would take a while with it being new but it's been around a couple of years now so surely people are adding stuff?

Replacement interior led's and new door lights. That's about it.

Yes looks that way, what happened to all the models ?, they must have moved on, it was one of the fun parts of VW ownership though.
