Hi people, am a new Mk3 Gti owner and always find the forums excellent fountains of information and good banta, got my self a 96 Mk3 Gti 2.0 8v, stood for over 2 years need lots of tlc and work, but had to save the Gti from the scrapyard. I hate a good car going to the vultures or crusher, have done the plugs, leads, rotor, cleaned the cap, oil and filter, throttle body clean and adjustment, clutch cable and fuel filter.
running a lot better than first getting going only a few lambda intermittent faults picked up but could need driven for a while and some V-Power and Forte Gas Treatment through, will check again after a few days but does sometimes hold back, but only changed the fuel filter tonight, and it had never been off in years! and put some V-Power in to start cleaning so maybe will cure the problems hopefully.
Has a Piper Cross cone and a Scorpion cat back de/cat system standard other wise apart from some 17" Wolfrace Ultralites and a spray a while back, probably go back to airbox and panel filter as not a fan of cone filters, does need some attention to floor plugs and sills, also needs a release bearing as hard to engage first sometimes and making a racket, and over cooling but needs flushed and a thermostat I think? has 183000 miles but full service history and an 80k engine fitted so worth the effort, very good inside and all works bar heater dials on it's way and sagging headlining, I like the car and reasonable for 115 bhp I was very surprised at acceleration when working correctly, here's some pics :)

Hope you are enjoying it. Regarding your comment about 115bhp - it isn't bad at all - cars get heavier and heavier with each new model (MK 7 is an exception) so need more power to stay the same. My MK 2 had 112bhp and was a desirable fast motor at the time. The MK 3 is just fine with 115.
