Title: Door lock module, replace or repair??

Hi Guys,

Looking for a bit of advice as having problems with my drivers door lock which I've narrowed down to being the door lock module.

I've seen a YouTube video explaining how to change it, bit of a pain but reckon I could have a go when it's a bit warmer!

Options are replace with a genuine new VW module where the price is about £120, replace with an eBay special new module which is about £20 or hunt around for a decent second hand genuine module which I reckon will be about £25.

OR, I could get the soldering iron out & have a go at repairing the one that's in there.

So what I'd like to know is - has anyone been unsuccessful in repairing the module & then had to buy a new one?? If so, where did you get it from & how much?

If you repaired it, any hints to ensure I get it right & not balls it up?

I repaired both of mine a few years back and still going strong. You are gonna have to take the unit out regardless , so for the sake of resoldering a few bits I would repair.
