Hello! Am Mark. I drive a BMW E46 at the moment but going to see a golf GTi MK5 DSG tomorrow. It looks super clean but what are the main things to look out for?
Thanks in advance

Rusty wheel arches, search on here for many a sad story

I have been told to check the front arches as they have a small sponge item in the sh!t guards. Need to run my fingers around the arches and check for that. Anything else I need to look out for?

Usual service history, smoke, rattles, timing chain or belts, worth searching the recall info to see if its had all/due any.
ESP/ABS/TC issues, these can be expensive make sure all the lights are out and check the systems function
I would buy a cheap scanner (if you have not got one) and scan it for fault codes, I do this for all modern cars I look at buying.
Pretty solid though

Ok thanks mate. Ill make sure I have a good look out for that. Am debating getting a scanner after buying the car. What's the best one to go for?
I have done a check on the car and everything has come back as the garage describes, HPI etc

Well it got bought. Happy with it. Going to collect on Saturday. Getting the garage to service the DSG box and everything is pukka on it. Slight wear on the rear badge where the chrome has started to peel off but nothing that can't be fixed.
Quick question though guys. Do all GTI DSG have flappy paddles?
