Hi all,
I was an admirer of the mk6 GTI when it came out in 2009, and in the last few years or so, I've been properly lusting after one, and now I've finally got one.
This thing goes like s**t off a shovel, and constantly feels like it wants to take off! Not sure why anyone wants more horsepower than this on public roads, but there you go. And, if I drive it sensibly on medium-long journeys I can also get around 38 MPG as well, which is really great.
Tornado Red with 17 inch wheels suits me just fine. I don't know 100% the exact spec from the factory, but it has the RNS-510 with the reversing camera, parking sensors, iPod connection and it has the puddle lights on the door mirrors. In due course I will probably be getting Bluetooth handsfree fitted since it didn't have that.
On to the pics :-

Very nice enjoy

Glad you're pleased. Needs 18's though...maybe even in black .

Needs 18's though...
But 17's are so much more comfortable, as I'm finding out as I have my 17" Passat wheels on mine at the moment.

This is true, I've had 17,18, and 19 inch OEM wheels. The 18's are a good compromise between comfort and not disappearing due to the size of the car.

Lovely looking car, welcome to the forum
Lots of inexpensive little mods worth doing, such as interior LEDs, sill guards, seat inserts etc, before you get onto the bigger ones

18's are the perfect compromise. Acceptable ride, more forgiving than 19's and better looking than 17's from a ride height perspective.
Agree with poached they'd look great in black against the TR.

Very nice indeed, looks you found a tidy example
I remember thinking the same when I bought my Mk5 GTI last year that its exactly the right amount of power or UK roads and always feels fast. Sadly I can't say the same about my 2.0 TDI Mk6!

The small turbo is well suited to our roads, but is a little flat in the upper rpm which is where the K04 shows it's advantage.
I find them much better with a map, the stock boost levels can feel a bit tame.

love the red mate!

Nice in red, never had a shot in a GTI i'm too tight filling it up! Nearest i came to that engine was in a SEAT Leon tfsi and would the brake horse be about 185? I was well impressed.

Everyone keeps saying the 17s ride better and i thought this too when i tried two cars back in 2009 originally, but I've driven a 2011 GTI with 18" Bridgestone back to back over the same poor road route i know well with my 2010 with 17" with Bridgestones. Both cars with standard suspension (not acc) and it actually shocked me the 18 seem to ride as well maybe better in some respects as there's less tyre bounce occilation on some humps. I think it may have more to do with suspension and tyres.
Nice red GTI

New to the forum myself mate. The GTI looks really good in tornado red mate. Very clean example

When I bought mine, I was prepared to walk away if I didn't like it in red but I fell in love with it straight away...spot on colour (has to be one of the best for the GTI).
Regards,
Mart

Looking good, miss the Red I do.
