What is the outcome if i fitted a 16v gearbox on an 8v? is this possible? just thinking ::)
-
short gearing - not to good!!! for your 'grunty' 8valve
I have an 8v gearbox on my Valve (bought it like that)
And it's so LONG it's geared to do 150mph! - mind you it would take 5 days to get there!!
-
I thought the 8v box was a slightly lower ratio than the 16v?
-
8v has a different gearbox, its much longer.
The 16v was short changed with its gearbox, it need a 6th gear for motorway cruising. 5k at a 100 is criminal.

mine does 5k rpm @ 100mph and it's an 8v. Is there any difference in the G60/Rallye 'boxes over the standard 8v ratios?

i read somewhere earlier (when looking this stuff up) that the Rallye has a much longer gearbox than the 16v. (The writer compared the two).

i am sure my old jetta was a bit of a cruiser, do they have a different gearbox? i am moving to europe so would prefer a less 'revvy' box.

If i put a 16v box on my 8v wont it mean better fuel consumption and/or a faster top end?
Sounds like a dream ???

errr, it'll mean worse fuel consupmtion and lower top speed.
this idea sounds like a winner.
