My mk5 gti's oil cap for some reason keeps blowing off, any had a similar experience and have any ideas where to start??

At a guess a failed PCV valve, so blowback has to find another way, ie your oil cap. Although I would be surprised if the cap was the weakest link...

I would start looking at ventilation, egr, pcv valve etc, if the mileage is high then possibly piston ring blow by.
What mileage has the engine done and did the dipstick blow out also or just the oil cap? Did it chuck oil everywhere when the cap came off ?

Sorry only just come back on this forgot to check, cars done 79k and no just the oil cap, I have the pcv and will be changing it this weekend, not spilling any oil the cap literally still sat in place in the engine cover just completely loose, read up that if air is pushing out when engine is running likely the pcv needs replacing? Which I tried and air is pushing out
