Wigit over in the mk7 section has had a set of VW Rotary 18" alloys fitted to his wife's new Night Blue .:R and I think they look really good, but I am biased, as I have a set on my mk6 GTD.

By special request by Booth11 to see what the Rotary's look like on a mk6, here's a picture of mine. Comments and feedback welcomed!

Wow  That is simply stunning  Why have you been hiding this baby away, unseen for so long! And look at that shine
The Rotary's look superb and suit both the mk6 and mk7s which wouldn't be the case with many alloys. The anthracite really complements the carbon grey, it's a winning combination. If I had to choose between the two, the mk6/rotary combo just edges it because I still think it's a better looking car than the mk7. If they had carbon grey as an option on the mk7 R I could have been seriously tempted away from my beloved deep black pearl, and if I ever get a set of different alloys for it, the Rotary's would be my first choice.
Thanks for indulging me SRGTD, it's a gorgeous car

I reckon they'd look good on my GT for next years winters. Do they come in 17"?
-
Thanks for the kind comments Booth. Sorry, I've not intentionally hidden it away. It's used daily in all weathers and doesn't always look like this, but like you, I do get pleasure from keeping it looking tidy, so it gets a proper 2 bucket and woolly mitt wash weekly or fortnightly, a machine polish with my new toy once a year, and a wax probably 3 times a year. I doubt it's up to the same standard as yours though.
I still have my diamond cut 18" Charleston's, and the plan is to put them back on when I eventually sell the car (no plans to do so any time soon!), so it's back to OEM. I'm not in a hurry to put them back on though, as I prefer the Rotary's.
-
Unfortunately not Dubber, they only come in 18".

Don't worry, they're staying on. Nice spec on your mk7 R by the way. Now the wait begins.....................but the prize will be worth waiting for

That's nice !!!

I like those wheels ;)

+1 looks superb, nice colour, bet the red stripe on the grill stands out?

Might be a little less rare now as you (Mrs Wigit) and SRGTD may be setting a trend

I'll see what I can do, but will need to wait until the weekend to take some pics, as I've not got any of the front. Sorry to disappoint you C3PO, but my car is............a GTD , not a GTI so no red stripe, but more than happy to show you the chrome stripe on my grill.
-
Yeah, we need to see a pic of the front now SRGTD
Here you go. Apologies for the poor quality pic. Will post up some more (hopefully better quality ones) in a few weeks time when I've done the full post-winter detail.

Very nice looking car, those wheels really do suit the colour of the car. Bit clean though, did you drive it there?

Thanks.
Ha ha . Yes, I did drive it there. And there was me thinking it's looking dirty enough to need a wash! I'll not bother cleaning it this weekend now.

Mmm, very, very nice  Both front and rear
Absolutely love carbon grey, my favourite colour after DBP, and really suits the GTD. Lovely with the GTI red stripe too, but something very classy about it with the silver chrome stripes of the GTD.
Exactly why it would've worked great on a mk7 R, with the silver mirrors, lip and single stripe. We seem to get shafted in the UK over colour choice compared to the European market. Mind you there are some horror choices on the German configurator
SRGTD, it does look very clean, your OCD must be worse than mine  But then they can never be too clean can they  Still haven't managed to wash mine since new year and it is disgusting, went out to do it this morning but snow put a stop to that  Maybe tommorow??

Thanks Booth. It's not a clean as I'd like it to be when you see it close up. OCD? probably, yes!
My previous 2 Golfs were DBP; I love black cars, but they really are a labour of love - even more so than Carbon Grey. I was close to going for white with the mk6 but I've no regrets in getting Carbon Grey. It is a challenge trying to keep it looking good at this time of year though. I'm looking forward to giving it 'the works' in a few weeks time, which gives me a good excuse to get my DA polisher out that I treated myself to last year. Time for a photoshoot then, methinks.
I agree, I think Carbon Grey would look great on the R. But a DBP R with Pretorias will be a winning combination.

Just looked at these on the VW website, I'm guessing that price is per wheel not including tyres?
-
^^^^^^ This signature is way too big man, think you need to pick one of the pictures or put them side by side mate.

I keep looking at these but am still not sure about them on blue, even after looking at the mk7r with them fitted on the other section. As the photos of that r are in a detailing shop noy sure how they would look on the street
