If I got an aftermarket radio will the controls still work on the steering wheel for volume etc.

No - you will need a separate module to use the steering wheel controls. What headunt is it and what car?

Oh dear that's sounds complicated lol. It's a clarion. And my car is a mk4 1.6 16v estate

Normally need an adaptor harness to allow the steering wheel controls to work. It simply plugs into the existing wiring

Ah fair enough I have been looking at a double din pioneer which says it supports steering wheel controls so this should work
