Hi peeps, need some audio advice. I have just got myself my first golf GTI MK4 (115) 2001 (red and black interior) which has the standard Gamma Radio in and above it is an empty din unit.
I have a kenwood kdc-455u single din headunit to replace the gamma radio, do I need to buy additional wire harness for it / plastic housing for it aswell or should it just be a case of swap out.?
Any help is greatly received. Thanks

Should be ok to swap over without additional housing, I *think* (as far as I can remember) you won't need any additional wring harnesses either, it's been a while since I did a radio change in a mk4...best thing to to remove the old Gamma unit and have a look at the wiring, easy enough to do
Hope that helps

Thanks for your reply, I'll remove the unit and have a look.

Its standard 2 block wire harness.

Standard two block harness is that Good.?
With aftermarket head units do I need to buy an ISO adaptor?
-
No, the two block connector is ISO

I'm pretty sure you'll need to swap the permanent and ignition lives over in order for the new radio to keep its memory.
It's easier to buy an adaptor lead which has bullet connectors on the red and yellow wires to enable you to do this, than it is cutting and soldering the cars existing wiring.

Ahhh, good point, I stand corrected

I didn't change any wiring on mine and it remembers all the settings.

Does it turn off in the same way when you take the key out?

I just got the iso conectors when I did mine
