Title: Golf Convertible
Post by: hardmonkeys on 25 January 2015, 21:44
Hello,

Think this is in the correct place, Looking to buy a 'W' plate Golf Avantgarde, any information from existing owners would be lovely, it's a 2.0 (115bhp) the mk4 boys call them the 2.slow lol

Done a bit of research online and it says that all but the basic has electric roof? The one I'm looking at says it has a Manual roof? Is the avantgarde basic?

Any info about this, would be so helpful

Warren

Thought Avantgarde was the 'luxury' spec so manual roof seems odd.

Parkers reckons it should be electric:

I had a look at it earlier, and it does have a power button, so assuming then, it doesn't work lol, not to worry, another job for the ,list,

Hi all, as some of you know, I have bought this Golf, it does have auto gearbox issues, which I am working through slowly...

(http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m318/hardmonkeys/image.jpg3.jpg) (http://s107.photobucket.com/user/hardmonkeys/media/image.jpg3.jpg.html)

Needs a good clean inside and out

Roof needs a clean up, but works

And doesn't leak despite this

Few blemishes

Oil leak, think from rocker gasket..and a good clean up

Cost me £311 off ebay, plans are to bring it back up to scratch, and use as a summer thing, I'm a massive fan of VW and of the Golf, all 7mks...so I'm not fussed what it costs, I regret selling my MK4 Gti for scrap value, thought the guy was gonna keep and restore, but he bought it and broke it...oh well.. I've. A new project now, and this is it..

So...that's my new project

Looks like a good buy, Just remember it's all mk3 for parts (except a few body panels)

Cheers for that pal, I did wonder about parts, assuming all are readily available? I'm very happy with it, aside from the gearbox issues, there seems to be nothing else wrong, time will tell obviously lol, cars are never fault free, they always want something or other haha

But I'm not fussed, like I said, I regret selling my MK4 and MK5, the mk5 was on 165k and the turbo was whining, so px'd for an A4, got a good price for it too

and the mk4, well, we were in process of buying a house, so needed the money elsewhere, if I'd known what the Polski was going to do with it, I'd of kept it, and put it in the garage...oh well, what's done is done, I have something else to concentrate on now, and hopefully have some fun in the summer with it.

Thanks again

Also, quick question, not sure on the alarm system it has

(http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m318/hardmonkeys/933E2992-66D5-471E-ADFE-6DBA99B8A780.jpg) (http://s107.photobucket.com/user/hardmonkeys/media/933E2992-66D5-471E-ADFE-6DBA99B8A780.jpg.html)

This is the fob, remote locking and alarm, is this a standard fit? Not sure if Ive seen these on VWs before

That's an after market system (Looking at the fob I am thinking Toad??)

And any parts you need let me know and I will ensure you get the right one's (majority are mk3 but there a few that are mk4 and even fewer that are unique to the 3.5!!)
