Hi,
I have a MK7 HL.
I also have my phone connected via the BT.
However the touch screen display on the car only shows certian photos of my contacts from the phone.
The phone is a Samsung s4 mini. I don't think its the phone side as I had a sony phone previously that had the same contacts - it showed only some photos as well (different ones to the ones from the S4mini...)
I know that the gif or jpg has to be a certian size and have experimented - no joy though.
What am I doing wrong? is the memory limited in the car?
If it matters I have the vw radio station icons downloaded for the car and they work great (memory issue?)
Thanks
Liam

what photos are on the phone, or rather where are they being pulled from?
-
he photos are on the phone.
I'm working from a Gmail account - so when you select a photo of the person within gmail, it crops it to a square and to size for use.
I have all the photos put into my phone via a PC in gmail (if you follow).
Some display on the car - others don't???

You need to assign the picture to a contact on your phone first and then when the Bluetooth connects it will show the photos on contacts.
-
Correct. but it only shows some of them and not others.
For instance I might have 150 contacts in my phone phonebook, with maybe 80 having photos assigned.
My problem is that there may only be 15 or 20 actually coming up on the cars radio display.
So its NOT showing assigned pictures for most of my contact dispite photos attached.
-
It only displays about 6 or 8 contacts anyway from the phone screen so I don't understand what you mean. I've got the 6 favourite numbers on my screen and they all show contact pictures. Where else are you looking for the other pics to show?

I have photos assigned to each of my 4 favorite contacts (wife and Kids) - none of them display on the car.
When I make or recieve a call (connected to the car) most of my contacts that have a photo attached to them do not display on the car - but are displaying on the phone.
There seems to be an issue with transfering them to the car.
I was wondering if anyone had this problem.
What phone are you using? iphone or android? (Mine's a Samsung S4 mini). I manage my contacts in Gmail (I insert the photos in my Gmail account on the PC- this syncs with the phone inc. the photos).
Your correct it should display 4 (in my car's case) contacts on the car, but it should also display individual contact photo when they call or I make a call.
I wonder if I need a firmware update for the car radio? (Car was delivered to me in July of 2013).
Is there a way of checking the firmware of my cars radio and if its up to date?

The photos need to be on the phone not through gmail. Save the pics to your phone and then assign to your contacts and then Bluetooth connection to your car. It should then upload your phone book along with your contact pics.

On my phone Samsung S3 most of my contacts have pictures that have been assigned by Facebook.
They don't transfer to the car.
The only pictures that seem to transfer to the car are the ones that I have physically attached to my contacts in the phone. For example I edit the contact in my phone and attach a picture to the contact.
-
Cheers, I dont remember attaching any photos in the phone, but as it could be ages ago I could have forgot.
I'm gonna see if I can transfer them to the phone first and then attache them to a contact....
Thanks for all the help guys!

I've got the Samsung s4 and before that the s2 and the only way to display contacts on the nav is to have the pictures actually on the phone first and then assigned to a contact.

Hi,
Been doing a bit more google since yesterday.
I tried putting some pictures on the phone and then asigning to a contact - didn't work.
I have since found out that it might have something to do with the BT protocols on the phone (depends on the version of andriod).
So am going down that route...
Any help on this?
Thanks

Hi
I had a Samsung Galaxy S3 and now a S5 and I have never succeeded in getting pictures to display despite having pictures linked directly to contacts on the phone. Are there any other tips or suggestions?
-
I gave up about 5 mins after setting up my contacts in the car.
Would like to find out if its possible, but I have a Windows phone so if a Samsung with Android can't always do it, I guess I have no chance.

On the nav pro you need to put your favourite contacts on the 6 spaces on the screen then the when you connect your phone it should automatically show the contacts. Have you checked all the settings for phone and Bluetooth on the navigation? I haven't had any issues with either my s2 or s4.
