Title: fog lights - how to take them out to clean

hi guys

following some heavy rain and the GTI trying to swim its way through a watershed road, the fog lights filled with muddy water which just wont go away.  Anyone knows how to take the lights out and clean the cases?

To take the fog light out I think you need to take the front bumper off.

Mine filled with water so I opened up from the back, as if changing the bulb, and stuck a clear pipe on the end of the vacuum cleaner hose (wet and dry model) and sucked the water out.

After a few days they had stopped steaming up and I haven't had any problems since.  :smiley:

that could do it.  So when you say you opened up from the back, you mean you actually removed the bulb thus creating an opening?

You can aid the drying process with the wife's hair drier pointed into the opening- but don't tell her :wink:

That won't work because as you are blowing air into the light, the now warm moist air in the lamp can't get out due to the force of air going in.

The best way is to leave them in the airing cupboard for 24 hours with the opening facing upwards.
