Title: Bonnet catch jammed.
Post by: Waspy on 12 January 2015, 17:10
Had my bonnet off this weekend, and while I was re-aligning it, it closed. Still unaligned. This has caused the catch to jam on and I can't get the bonnet open.

Brute force won't shift it. The cable is operational, but the catch release simply isn't releasing the catch. No amount of jabbing at it with a screwdriver through the grill shifts it.

I'm running low on ideas. Anyone got any bright ideas?

Thanks for the pm, I have replied.

Just to reiterate, the problem does not appear to be with the release mech, it's more like a physical jam. Ie, the catch is physically jammed into the lock. But not completely as I can open it about an inch.

could you loosen the catchplate a few turns with a ratchet ring spanner ?

You could unbolt the slam panel on all but the 4 under the bonnet and see if you get enough flex to move the lock
