Were these ever fitted to the mk2 8v golf , ive just changed the dorr mirror that was cracked for one off my old golf the new mirror has a heating element in thats not connected , is there a kit avaiable and if not how hard you think it will be to "invent a system" ?

get yourself down a scrappy and have a hunt for Golfs with heated mirrors. Then take out the loom and swtiches or whatever comes with the mirrors. You should be able to just plug them in and hey presto as the connectors should be present already in your car!

I hope that's right; though I'm sure others will point you in more of the right direction!!

I doubt ( unless your very lucky ) that you'll find a loom .
I have made up looms in the past on a couple of new mk2s ( as the customers wanted electric adjustable and heated mirrors ) VW didn't do a separate loom so we had to order all the plugs , terminals , mirrors and switch etc .
I then had to make the loom up using a the VW current flow diagrams , took a while but they worked first time
