Just saw the below on Engadget. No idea if it will make its way onto the Golf. Personally I think it's a bit much but I do like the instrument cluster which you can currently get in the Passat.

Also found a video of it.

Looks like the Audi TT's digital display instrument has made it onto that mock-up/prototype, I think it'll be common tech for most of the VAG cars for any new models due in 3-5 years time.

I hope and pray that this sorta stuff is on the facelift model, be a shame if not, cant imagine the s3 not having it after the tt will have had it for a few years

Provided it all works ok, it will be fine. But make it slow to respond and I can see changing the fan speed or temp becoming annoying.

I think going away from physical dials completely is an awful idea, I must be in the minority, but using the touch screen whilst driving is very difficult. I'm always using the physical button to select things.
The actual dials are a great idea being digital but give me some physical buttons please.

I agree with you if it works leave it alone. Keep it simple.

I'll third that.
Maybe a combination of the 2 would be ideal.

Oh wow! Love it. But then again I'm a massive fan of tech and the whole reason I went for the gti is the amount of cool toys it has. Would love to have fully customisable TFT screens in my car.
