Hello all!
Looking at installing an oil catch can, just wondering what's the most common successful way of doing this on an aum?
Cheers
-
Not sure about most successful - that depends on the individual's requirements - so each setup will vary. The most common setup would probably involve routing the crankcase and valve cover breathers to a t-piece using rubber oil lines, this then feeds into a catch can mounted to the battery cover/slam panel/bulkhead and plumbed back into the turbo intake pipe.
I've played about with various different setups, now I've just stuck with the simplest design to meet my needs of a robust setup with minimal restriction to blow-by gases at high rpm usage.

Ideal ok mate thanks for the reply, will this stop the oil going back into the tip because it's being caught in the can?
-
The oil vapour from the engine will condense when it goes through the catch can as long as you get a decent one with material in there. A lot of cheap cans only rely on the vapour hitting the walls of the can which isn't very efficient IMO
-
Ahh right ok, so what would you say a decent can was?

Some members rate the saikou michi catch can highly, not tried it myself though

I have the Saikou Michi can and it does what it says on the tin

Ive moved the pair of relays at the back in with the loom, and stuck the can there. Seems to be doing the job

I am using this
