Morning guys,
I wonder if you can help please...
I've got a RNS510 and I've noticed over the last day or so all I get is static? Just about all my radio stations are static?
It's even tricky to manually tune them in. I can only associate it to going through a bad area, but I've not experienced before on my Golf?
Can they be reset or do I just need to wait until they come back on? What's wrong!!! lol!
Merry Christmas and regards,
Mart

Morning Mart,
while you are on the radio, hold the setup button down for about five seconds and it should put you into radio service mode.
If you hit the FM or AM button it should report the status of the aerials and the strength of the signal.
If you want to reset the RNS, just press the left, right and star buttons together.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the reply.
When you do a reset, does it clear all saving etc.?
Thanks.
Regards,
Mart

The settings will remain as they were, including all stored radio stations.

Did that...it says the antennas off??
How do you do a reset and would that cure it or would there be something wrong with the antenna?
Mike when you said press both stars for a reset, where are those? Any pics at all pls, more detailed info where and when I do that?
Regards,
Mart

Sounds like the Antenna have lost connection somewhere, either at the back of the radio or at the rear window.
Press these buttons all together to reset. The button on the right may be a * instead.

Hi again,
Done the reset, still says antennas 1 and 2 off and strength poor?
Does this mean I have a break some where?
Would VCDS show where the problem is?
If I need to have it looked at I'm not sure where I'd take it? (I'm in Nottinghamshire). I would think if I took it to vw, they'd only get a third party in anyway??
Any suggestions of what to do next pls (I miss my radio).
Regards,
Mart

Any ideas please?

Anyone help with this pls?

I'm afraid Martin there is nothing else for it but to start by pulling the radio out and then track the wires back from there to the aerial at the rear.
-
It's looking like a radio out job.
It only takes a few minutes.
Also, assuming you have the standard rear screen ariel - have you checked the screen element and the wires going into the tailgate for any damage? Does the rear screen demister still work?
