Title: Wiring central locking switch?
Post by: g3uvn on 20 December 2014, 22:21
I am trying to figure out how to wire the US spec central locking switch into my GTI and im a bit stuck with trying to decipher the differences between the US and UK looms, im using this as a guide http://www.gti-vr6.net/wiki/index.php?title=Add_power_door_lock_switch_to_console

However it seems to be making me more confused than I was before! Anyone wired one of these up before?

Edit:

This is what I have got, sounds about right?

[Pin 1] > >  ? = Ground

[Pin 2] > > T2 = +12 volts
> > (Tap from cigarette lighter red/white cable which is live to fuse 22)
> > Install 1W 220 ohm fuse INLINE with cable

[Pin 3] > > 30 = Magic lock wire
> > (Red/black wire in RHF door 5-pin multiplug)

[Pin 5] > > 31 = Instrument light (Negative -)
> > (Tap from defroster switch brown – Socket 2)

[Pin 6] > > 58b = Instrument light (Positive +)
> > (Tap from defroster switch gray/blue – Socket 1)

is this a push to make switch or a push to on/push again to off ?.Probably the former ?.

Also,do you have a multi-meter with a continuity test mode ?.
