Hi All,
My 3 door golf mk 4 has a strange problem. The window moves down nice and easy however, it doesn't like coming up?
Sometimes it goes all the way down (on a cold day) and will only come up 20%. Then you have to pull up with hand.
I lubed all the guide rails (feels like it is made of felt) with GT85 and got some poor movement back up.
Don't think it is the window regulator as it works and can't see anything causing resistance from the felt seals. But what do I know!?
Anyone have the same experience or a solution?
Help is much appreciated...

Has the motor packed in? Gravity may be assisting with it going down but may lack in power to raise. Glass isn't the lightest
Hope this helps

best bet is to take it out and look at everything. it may be the cables have had it or the rollers have gone a bit stiff.

replaced the window regulator (£41 inc vat from GSF) and all is well.
Was told the mechanism had alot of gunk on it, well it is sorted now.
thanks for your responses.
