I get an error, Check Coolant, appear when I turn the ignition on in the morning. This only happens when the temp outside is lower than 3C. Is anyone else experiencing this? If so, is it a take it back to the dealers job?
Funnily enough I had this problem with my Mk5 and the dealers never got to the bottom of it.

Its not that at 3 degrees or lower the coolant has contracted under low temp to below the sensor level?
Have you checked the coolant level? Could be marginal?

Could be a good call. Seems ok now but Ill check it out in the morning before I start it up.

Except that water is at its most dense (i.e. contracted) at 4C and is less dense at 3C... this is why ice floats... However, because there is not only water in the system, you could be right...

Do vw still use water based fluids for coolant systems?
-
i see this all the time on various VAG motors, in my own cars too but never in a car so new that corrosion on the sensor prongs is virtually impossible. VW will probably want to replicate the fault meaning you'll be without the car for a couple of days probably and if you're lucky you'll get a new coolant reservoir fitted F.O.C.

Yes, you are right, VW want the car for a few days to check it out. Its going in next week.
