Title: Goodbye / thanks for all the help.
Post by: mcgee9t2 on 30 November 2014, 22:52
Just a little post to say thank you for all the help from the regulars ( and not so regulars ) on here.

Been a pleasure to be part of the community. And to have met some of you at shows and meets and even just around town.

All the advice and help has saved me loads of money and helped me progress vastly.

However. After 5 years it's time to say good bye to the vw scene. Atleast for the moment.

I have bought a new little run around daily and a toy for the weekend which I am picking up on Saturday.

I'll still pop in occasionally to say hello as there's some good crack on this forum at times. But as you can tell recently Iv been posting less and less and fallen out of love with the golf completely.

Cheers
Paul.

well i picked this up on the sixth and it hasent stopped making me smile. well worth the drive to the other end of the country, and it was in even better condition than I could've imagined.

full lotus service history, full years mot just put on, brand new tyres just put on, years warrenty, 40k on the clock, all the problems lotus's have have been done in the last few years. car is in mint condition, with armourfed all on the front and the sides so the paint work is in top notch.

few pics as promised. these are just a few off the dealers website, few more to follow this weekend when I get out with the camera...

That's cool, shame I don't fit in one - I find an S2000 a little tight.

Do the sorted problems include a new head gasket on the K series lump?

The missus old Rover 100 shat itself one evening and I know the mess it can leave...

Nice replacement.
That looks great. I'd love an Elise.
You should post in the Non-Dub Rides section now.

it does indeed wes.

in the last 5 years its coverd about 7k. and in that time its had a new uprated alloy radiator, head gasket, major service including cam belt water pump etc etc etc. and numerous other common problems sorted.

Dubfan i would create a non dub rides post, but to be honist im not wanting to mod this, its so perfectly balanced and the power to weight ratio is spot on i dont see the point. does 0-60 in 5 seconds, even in the wet it will out handle my mates modified cars. what more could i want. i may create a post to show the car off a little bit and every so oftern do a video of me having a drive out and ill no doubt get a few shots with the dslr at some point and post them.

Never driven one, but have rode shotgun in a few, and would agree, doesn't need modifying. Good call.

yep, think if i got one of the 120bhp ones i wouldve wanted a little more power especially for when your up to about 70/80mph. but as this is the 160 bhp version it goes like stink from a stand still and even putting your foot down at 60mph in 5th when your at 2k revs it still flings you back into the seat. very impressed by it.

you tried sitting in one? iv had a mate whos pretty wide set in it and also someone whos about 7ft long in it. both managed to fit in and reasonably easy.

i think there supprisingly spacious, and once you get the hang of getting in and out its pretty easy. even the other half get get in/out in a dress/skirt now and atleast be left with half her modisty :D

Good stuff mate, it's the only downside to an otherwise awesome car. Enjoy :afro:

cheers Wes, the car is booked in with a mates valeting service, got a full 2day valet for very cheep with the understanding that he can use the elise in his advert/promotional video.

pics to follow on sunday night when i get the car back :D

also getting the car booked in at the lotus garage for a full health check so that any underlying problems can be sorted on the warrenty, more for peice of mind than anything, car runs and handle spot on, but id rather get it done now than find out theres a sensor that needs replacing or is on its way out when i come to use it properly in march...

Did they use the latest type multi layer head gasket ?
Title: Re: Goodbye / thanks for all the help.
Post by: mcgee9t2 on 19 December 2014, 13:14
as far as i know yes.

got the recipt but havent had a proper look at it.

as this is only a second car its only going to be driven on the weekends and on a euro road trip so proberbly only see 4k next year and as it was only done last year or so (less than 2k miles) i cant see any hgf even if it was the original type gasket (which id assume its not as pretty much everywhere fits the uprated type). and if i find out it was the original type used then i can get it done cheep next winter at my cusins garage mates rates etc.

picked the car up from its detail/paint enhancement today. will let the pics do the talking.

detail was done by devilish detailing and cant recommend enough. if your in the area and want anything doing get in contact with Tom. he did some work on my old golf too and it was spot on.
