Title: Turbo noise

hi guys new to this forum,

basically I have a mk4 golf gti 1.8t

it was only the other day when a sudden strange whining noise started coming from engine bay, at a guess I would say its the turbo but I have no idea?

its a whining noise how ever I still have full boost...

any recommendations of what to check etc...

Welcome Ben,

Do you have any fault codes? A noise from the engine bay could coming from anywhere :smiley:

I used to have a whining noise coming from my car, turns out that it was a pretty severe vacuum leak next to the pancake pipe.

No sure if I would class the turbo spooling as a whining noise.

I get a little bit of whining from my engine. I thought it would either be alternator or a tensioner somewhere.

its not PS fluid low is it ? prob not as you would only hear that upon steering , but it does whine like a ...

I would check the steering as low fluid will put extra stress on the rack/pump/belt and cause it whine in my view.
