Hey all
So, I was on my way home from work this evening when I gently pulled up to stop at traffic lights and just as I was about to come to a standstill I got an error message on my Display saying "auto hold failure" and a yellow warning triangle lit up and remained. And now when I press the auto hold button it does not light up so I don't know if it is on or off.
Turning the engine on/off got rid of the warning triangle/message but pressing the auto hold button doesn't appear to do anything.
Has anyone else experienced something similar and does this warrant a visit to the dealers?

Mine gave me that message once of twice when it was new.... not anymore after the first service, but with me auto hold kept working.
I'd just bring it to a dealer.... can always have a sneak view with vcds first.

Thanks
Did they mention if they did a software update or something to it when you had the service?
Hate booking car in to dealers... so much hassle

Have a look at some of my posts, it's been an ongoing problem with my 63 plate Gti PP
Got it back this afternoon and it seems fine, but getting a detailed report tomorrow from the dealer on what they did with it while it was in for 2 weeks

Well, been out in the car today and no error popping up but still can't get the auto hold to activate
Car will now be getting booked in for dealer to have a look at and I can just hear them say, "we can't replicate the fault!"
Just hope I don't have a 2 week wait for them to sort the issue out

Well gets in the car to go to work today and thought I'd press the auto hold button for the fun of it and your guessed it..... it worked!!! Thought it was a fluke but no, turned it on/off several times and worked perfectly. On my drive to work no error and auto hold worked as it should. Same again on the return home from work!
Dilemma: do I book the car in now for what appears to be an intermittent fault or do I wait until the error happens again and then book it in? :undecided:

Quite why everyone had to move to electonic handbrakes and fancy stuff im not sure - these features are great on a new car (mostly) but dread to think how many 10 year old Golf's and every other car will have problems with these features later in life..
hope you get it sorted anyway..

As I said the other day the car came back on Friday from the garage all fixed after a 2 week visit.....
Guess what, 6 bloody errors have popped up again, am not a happy bunny and for the garage to turn around and say its all fixed and you should not have any more problems, I just feel like giving them the keys back and say either fix the car or give me my money back!!!...but its a year down the line and I dont suppose I have a let to stand on for asking for a replacement car?
Am just fizzing with them

You could probably argue the same for countless features on your car to be honest.
Anyone who has ever had an old TDi will tell you how much fun a knackered turbo can be, but I don't think anyone would want a non-Turbo oil burner (I remember having one 20 years ago and it was like driving a tractor!)
The auto hold, like so many other things on my GTD is a superb feature that enables me to concentrate more on avoiding stuff on the road rather than fiddling with equipment. The only time it can be bothersome is when you manually release it because you've tried to move the car without your seatbelt on.... and thats only because you've become conditioned to it just doing its thing without you thinking about it!
Cheers
Fred
