Title: Mk 4 diesel immobiliser problem
Post by: robert hindle on 24 November 2014, 15:51
I have an intermittent fault on the immobiliser circuit( I think) About once a week (now reducing) the fuel cut off solenoid actuates and the engine cuts out. I've made a temporary fix by taking a fused supply from the battery via a switch in the glove compt. This works but drains the battery if I forget to switch it off.   Its a very strange fault there doesn't seem to be a pattern to it, i.e. low voltage, damp ect. The diagnostics don't show any fault or at least one that i can catch. The car has 175k on the clock Iv'e had it from new so it's in otherwise good condition. Anyone experienced this fault on a mk4 golf

get someone with vcds to go through adaption... and measuring blocks.
might be able to tell from that what is causing solenoid to malfunction.

immobiliser should stop the car completely - the injectors would simply not inject fuel....
