Title: Potential Immobiliser issues?
Post by: tomcrowther on 18 November 2014, 23:15
Soooo I picked up my very first golf today, a 97 mk3 gti 16v in mystic pearl view. Drove back perfectly on the 120 mile trip despite not moving for 2 weeks, started perfect.

HOWEVER. Put some fuel in it tonight after a play, turn key, f**k all happens. You can hear what I think is the fuel pump priming but no start. Anyway, so we got it bump started and it carried on flawless. Get home, turn it off, try turning it on again, no luck. No room to bump start so try pushing it off the drive and onto the road to get it going, can't quite get it round the corner, tried the key in desperation, starts fine...

Any ideas? I was thinking immobiliser but I know sweet FA about cars.

Any help would be really appreciated, only had fords before now so treat me like an idiot for finding the issue!

Cheers,
Tom.

Dodgy starter motor or the ignition switch is fooked. Next time when you try to start it tap the solenoid on the starter
