Hi all. A very simple and quick question please. Last night, was out in the car with a passenger in the back, and they wanted to turn on the rear reading light in the roof but couldn't find it as it was very dark. When we stopped, I turned to have a look and saw that none of the buttons on the rear light array in the roof were illuminated. The lights themselves work fine when the buttons are pressed, they are just not illuminated ?
Now I may have totally dreamt this, but are the rear light buttons on the Golf supposed to be illuminated just like the front ones or not - I thought they were when I got the car ?
-
Mine aren't... I suspect the reason may be to do with distracting the driver at night...
-
Ah well, at least I'm not going mad and it's not broken ?
Cheers for checking.

Passenger in the back you say.... surprised you were looking for the light....
-
Now now, I had the wife in the front seat at the time, and the person in back seat was my mother
-
You could have turned the rear lights on from the front console which is lit.
-
Yeah, I did in the end, but just thought I'd remembered it being illuminated at some point (must be going mad).
Bit more penny pinching me thinks, as the back of the car is certainly the poor relation to the front - no sill illumination strips, no door ambient lighting and now, no rear illumination for the rear light buttons.

And in my case - no doors either
