The stealer has been telling me for over a yr that my discs and pads will need replacing soon.
There's quite a big lip on my discs so they will obviously need doing. But when it comes pads isn't there a sensor to tell u when they need replacing, or was that ditched on the Mk6? Tbh I've not really checked the pads closely myself. My theory is that if the brakes still work then that's ok!
Also how much should I be paying for discs and pads all round? The stealer quoted over £700! I'll obviously be taking my car to an Indy whm I do get them done.

The post 10 post's down titled "What kind of price for indy front brake pad replacement" will answer some of your questions.
Its a question that's been asked quite a few times if you try a search im sure there is lots of information. I know ive replied to alot of them in recent months.

You can probably get front and rear discs and pads for £200 and fit them yourself. Mine need doing very soon and will be shopping around

I'd be £202.36 for OE stuff fitted including VAT to give you some idea.

I can supply (and fit if close to Yorkshire) genuine VW 312mm discs & pads front and 282mm rears for £331.55 (all inclusive but plus fitting)
or I also do Delphi o.e spec discs and pads which are quite a bit cheaper at £126 (all inclusive but plus fitting)
I've sold a fair few sets to forum members after the dealers have quoted crazy prices!!

I'm currently shopping around for front and rear discs and pads but unsure what to go for? Just like for like or whether to get some drilled and grooved discs?

Snooze you brave s0d...."if the brakes still work then ok with me"...!!
Anyhoo, I have done nearly 59k from new (2010) and mainly motorway miles but now I need to change my pads for the very first time. So have decided to change pads and discs all round for OE parts, which are being fitted tomorrow for £182 but not by a stealer !
Stealers quoted £350 for same job and product !

Ha ha!
I've done 61k now and I drive quite hard. Wow that sounds like a bargain! £350, that's half what my stealer quoted. Think I better get down my local Indy in the near future!
