-
what a shame its like that, needs lots of tlc tbh!
-
Looks like students live in the second one
-
There both cool. Look at the big fat rear wheels on the rat!
-
I think it's one of the best rat vans I've seen yet. The guy had driven it all the way from sweden to sell at vanfest. It had been sat in a field for 25 years before he got his hands on it. Can't imagine there being a lot left after a couple of good winters on our salty roads.
The missus loved the pink bus and I've covinced her a splittie would make a great wedding car should the need ever arise ;)

My wife would love the pink bus but its too much of an excuse to have loads of kids and that aint gonna happen! :embarassed:

D@mn right count, I reckon it would end up possessing your soul christine stylee!
-
never seen a VW van that looks like the beat up rat van, I love the style of the windows! i hope they restore it!
-
Seen the pink one before and it really is mint, don't like the colour too much (honestly ! ) but it has been restored to a very high standard. Loving that rat split though, its the strangest one I think I've seen, it must have been chopped though as the height and angle of those windows look so strange, the twin lamps are bizarre too. Thumbs up there tobz for a couple of quality pics.
-
i recognise those beetle indicators mounted across the roof of the rat!
-
Cheers Gibb, yeah the roof had been chopped, it sloped down from the rear to the front. I'm not sure if that was through choice or to remove completely shot metal. It was called the seagull ghost custom which I didn't understand at the time until I've looked back at my pics and spotted the seagull resemblance in the shape............ah that's why he had both gullwings open the whole time. I think the twin lights were an old addition as the paintwork around them looked very aged like the rest of the van, not too sure about them but they certainly made it stand-out.
Well spotted seer, beetle front indicators indeed.
Inside was incredible, so chaotic, the original seats were still in place although they were just some rusty old springs with some straw likw stuff and a scrap of material remaining. Don't think I would have wanted to sit on them for 800miles!!!

the chopped ratty is proper bo' like, likin that loads...........
-
i wonder what engine was in that? and i wonder if we will be seeing it again in the future now it has a new owner
-
I think it had been fitted with the obligatory 1600cc air cooled lump. I'll have to find out if it sold or not, I would like to have another good look round it.

That Rat look splitty is BAD A$$ !  Proper Mad Max style. Sweet.
