Hello,
my golf gti 1.8 aum is slipping, revs go up no acceleration then boom it feels like the turbo kicks in(can hear it whilst reving)
just wondering if i should get the OEM clutch and flywheel or should i upgrade?
My car is stock

You may aswell do the g60/vr6 upgrade imo, it'll cost almost the same and you'll never have to do the clutch again after that.
-
that's brillaint mate how much does the kit conversion cost? any links to buy it?
-
anyone?
-
I just chuck a Valeo conversion kit in a lot of the time, comes with everything including bolts and costs me £149 a go.
Never had an issue.
It is effectively a G60 flywheel and VR6 clutch in a way.
-
Mine cost the same, I got mine from techniclutch on ebay and haven't had any problems, a fair few people have had a problem with them though, so it's up to you whether you buy from them.
The cheapest kit I could find

I can do you a Borg & Beck (so a very well known respected brand) kit for £171 (4 piece kit with solid flywheel)

That's an awesome price. :)

Soo cheap for petrol clutch kits!
Diesel kits (esp the 6 speed) cost the earth!

You never know, give us your car details and I will see what's about (even dual mass flywheels are no where near as pricey as they was)

ARL pd150 with 6 speed 02M gearbox. (240mm clutch kit)
I want something that will future proof, the Sachs sre kit is ideally rated to 360lbft.
I would like to stick with the DMF and don't wish to have a paddle clutch.
My options were the Sachs sre or the helix setup from awesome gti, but the outlay on both is immense.
I'm taking my time with this decision because my clutch is still manageable how it is at the moment.
Never heard of Borg & Beck as a manufacturer before, reputable?

I can say Borg & Beck have being around making clutches over 100 years and are still a major o.e supplier, I believe the only reason there not known like sachs or LUK is they are not part of huge multi national companies (Sachs is ZF and LUK is Schaeffer).
They do offer a full range of clutches with proper guarantee's and usually that bit less ££

Quote us for a PD130 6 speed if you like mate CU02 XBE.
Just about to get a SACHS DMF and clutch probably next week.

Borg & Beck is £138 (for a cover, plate and Slave Cyl 3 part kit) and I can do a sachs flywheel for £198.

Good price that, what sort of rating do they have? The Sachs OEM is said to just about hold 300lbft.
Do they do any uprated options?

Borg & Beck is said to be good to about 270lb/ft (standard are said to be 250lb/ft). They don't do any uprated options (I guess as it's a very difficult market to be in, what may work for some doesn't for other's)

Sweet. What's the lead time?
Would you recommend B&B over Sachs?

I certainly would recommend b&b over Sachs, both made to the same quality standards and both major o.e suppliers. Lead time is delivered to you within 2-3 days
