Title: Brake light problem.

my mates mk4's brake lights are on constantly when his headlights are on ,and when his headlights arnt on his brake light dont come on at all. any ideas anybody ?  thanks inadvance.

maybe , he has a small amount of water leaking into boot ,possibly through rear lights,now i think about it.
